Is treatment covered by my insurance?
Each medical policy is different. Once we receive your medical insurance information, we will lookup your policy and specific benefits that you are eligible for. Most insurances cover the initial exam and imaging appointment. Once we determine the problem, we work hard at creating treatment options that maximize your medical benefits and minimize your out-of-pocket expense.
I don’t have medical insurance; can I still be treated?
Yes, we have lots of patients who receive care without medical coverage. We also offer private pay discounts and payment plans.
Is a custom TMJ splint the same as a night guard?
No, custom TMJ splints are often made with precise jaw positions to best stabilize the craniofacial system. Dental night guards are made to simply protect your teeth from grinding.
Do over the counter appliances work as well as the custom appliances?
No, studies show OTC appliances are not as effective as a custom oral appliance in treating sleep apnea because of poor fitting. There is also increased risk for bite and alignment changes with an improperly fitted OTC appliance. The best results with oral appliances therapy are from a customized device.
